Purpose & Mission

The overall goal of this initiative is to develop the knowledge, decision-making tools and procedures to allow industry to effectively evaluate, implement and manage carbon dioxide (CO2) sequestration projects.

Sequestration involves capturing CO2 emitted by industrial plants, such as coal-burning power generators, transporting the CO2 and injecting the gas underground for permanent storage in geological reservoirs.
