ISEEE Executive Director receives PTAC Distinguished Service Award
ISEEE Executive Director David B. Layzell has received the PTAC Distinguished Service Award from the Petroleum Technology Alliance Canada (PTAC) organization.
The award recognizes individual leadership in progressing research and technology development.
PTAC recognized Layzell for his "exceptional leadership, outstanding devoted service, and strong ongoing commitment to achieving our shared vision for sustainable hydrocarbon development," said PTAC President Soheil Asgarpour.
Layzell, a member of PTAC's board of directors, received the award at a special volunteer recognition luncheon, held at the Calgary Petroleum Club on May 8, 2012.
Based in Calgary, PTAC's mission is to facilitate innovation, collaborative research and technology development, demonstration and deployment for a responsible Canadian hydrocarbon energy industry.
Layzell came to lead ISEEE af the University of Calgary in 2008, after a distinguished, 27-career as a Queen's University Professor, with appointments in Biology, Environmental Studies and Policy Studies.
At ISEEE, he currently heads a cross-faculty, ISEEE initiative focused on modelling past, present and future energy systems to understand what is achievable in the transformation of Canada's energy system, including assessing the associated costs and benefits.
