Key elements of the ISEEE mission include: - Developing and promoting a collaborative vision and strategic focus for expanded research and education in energy and environment at the U of C
- Initiating and coordinating major collaborative research and academic initiatives in energy, environment and economy, and attracting/facilitating funding for such initiatives
- Developing and facilitating collaboration across units at the U of C and with industry, government and other research organizations, to achieve synergies and increase effectiveness, improve funding, and ensure critical mass, excellence and international recognition
- Facilitating integration of research, development and innovation activity in energy, environment and economy with advanced education and the development of highly qualified personnel
- Promoting and providing impartial and scientifically sound information on energy and environment issues
- Building the image and identity for the University in the area of energy, environment and economy
