Careers For Dog Lovers

If you are someone who loves dogs of all sizes, sales join the club. Sometimes it simply doesn’t matter what size dog it is, they are equally as lovable. Maybe you love dogs so much that you would like to work with them. If you were a veterinarian you would have the opportunity to work with animals of all sizes and it isn’t just specific to dogs. If you were a dog trainer you would get to work with dogs all the time they would all be different breeds and different sizes. That would be an awesome career choice if you are a dog lover.

If you are looking to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine there are a number of colleges to choose from.  One of the most highly elite veterinary colleges in the United States is the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. In fact it is fifth among all veterinary schools in the United States.  If you are a resident of the state of Ohio it would cost you approximately $30,000 year and about $65,000 for those who live out of state. Fees and supply costs change year after year so these amounts could rise in the coming years.

Maybe you don’t want to spend that much time in college. I can’t say that I blame you. You could become a dog trainer! You would be rewarded with the amazing opportunity of working with dogs of all different breeds and different sizes. There are schools out there that offer dog training certificate programs that are fairly inexpensive and don’t take nearly as long as becoming a vet.

You would be responsible for learning about the history of dog training, animal learning such as operant and classical conditioning, positive and negative reinforcement as well as dog behavior and designing classes. It is not required that you attend college or obtain any sort of degree. You can usually become a dog trainer based on certifications as well as experience. You would get to play with dogs all day long as well as help them with behavioral issues. If you have a love for dogs of all sizes, this would be a wonderful career option for you that does not require a lot of education.

Small dogs are great, big dogs are even greater, regardless of the size, all dogs are amazing. If you have that kind of mindset then you would be a great dog trainer. If you enjoy all different types of animals then maybe becoming a veterinarian is a good idea. Regardless of what you decide to do, working with animals is a fun opportunity and you shouldn’t miss out on it if you are a dog lover.
