Thank you to more than 220 participants who came to CAFES and interacted with world-renowned experts to explore the challenges, opportunities and strategies for transforming Canada's energy system.
Why CAFES?
Energy systems are under pressure to transform, yet no consensus exists about the goal, the path, the rate, the cost or the benefits.
Strong voices from all sides paralyze political will, yet choices on how best to transform Canada’s energy system will impact both the environment and the economy that we enjoy and then pass to future generations.
We need to foster a better, systems-level understanding of energy systems, including the costs and benefits of technologies and policies that are needed to drive the next energy system transformation. Only then can we move towards a consensus on the pathway and targets that should define the milestones for Canada’s future energy system.
CAFES is a two-day conference where participants will explore:
- The nature of energy systems;
- How and why energy systems transformations occur;
- The catalysts, technologies and policies that could drive transformation in Canada;
- The barriers and bottlenecks to energy system change; and
- The implications for energy security, environment and economy in Canada.
Who Should Attend?
Current and future stakeholders in Canada's energy system should attend, including: energy sector leaders/strategists, financial and investment sector analysts, government policy-makers, environmental group representatives, researchers and graduate students from the applied, natural and social sciences.
